Acer rubrum Scanlon is a medium-sized tree which has a neat, compact upright growth habit. The lobed dark green foliage turns into a superb, deep reddish-orange in the autumn. Clusters of small, red flowers are borne on the bare branches in the spring. Deserves wider planting.
